Nick James was down in Houston this past weekend for the 2010 Houston College Classic, which featured nine games over three days between Texas, Texas Tech, Rice, Houston, TCU and Missouri. We'll be rolling out a recap of each day of the Classic on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week, culminating in Nick's Top 20 players on the weekend (taking into account both weekend performance and draft potential). We begin with Nick's Notes from Day 1, which include a look at 2011 top-five overall hopeful, Taylor Jungmann (pictured).

Quick Hits: Cape All-Star Game and UA All-America Game

Sorry for being out of touch for a bit -- life "at the office" has been a little hectic. I'm hoping to run a series of these quick hits to catch-up anyone who hasn't been following the summer scene thus far. Today I’ve rounded-up a series of pieces on the Cape Cod All-Star game, which took place at Fenway at the end of July. Here are the links -- they’re all good reads:

  • Keith Law posted his thoughts on the Cape All-Star Game for his and Jason Churchill's blog at ESPN (requires Insider Membership).
  • Baseball America's Aaron Fitt put together a nice piece featuring Zack Cox, INF, Arkansas.
  • Codball, a great blog focusing on the Cape League, ran four entries covering the event, including a roster preview, recap of the homerun derby, game wrap and sites-and-sounds piece.

I’ll be out in Chicago this weekend for the Under Armour All-America game at Wrigley. I’ve posted a brief snippet on five kids I’ll be paying particular attention to over at my blog for DraftAmerica.com. We’ll start rolling out reports and video next week, and I’ll have a full write-up of the event both here and at CamdenDepot.com.

I’m going to try to get the Team USA Top 15 out next week. Not sure if the full write-up will accompany the rankings, but I’d greatly prefer that it does for fear of the days getting away from me. I’ll have a Cape Cod Top 20 towards the end of the month, in addition to rankings and write-ups for both the Aflac and Under Armour showcases.

That’s it for tonight -- next week I’ll try to get you some reading materials on some of the high schoolers. If I have time, I’ll post some of my thoughts on the Perfect Game National Showcase, which took place in Minneapolis back in June.

Talk to you soon,
- NJ
